I received a telephone call this morning from MSgt (Gunny) Cook. His brother, David, is currently serving in Iraq as a civilian IT specialist assigned to the 1^st Armored Division. (He is also a drill status member of the Florida Army National Guard). This morning, David was inside the compound walking back to his tent from the gym, when insurgents began a mortar attack on the compound. David was hit in the attack.

 

David was struck in the abdomen and shrapnel was removed. He is currently being stabilized for transport to Germany.
