Patriot Guard/ALR Cripple Creek Ride
 
Riders, for those going to Cripple Creek next month: This year the Salute to American Veterans Committee will be recognizing and honoring the Kansas Patriot Guard at their Ceremony on Sat. 8/19- 12 noon after POW/MIA Run. This is a real honor for us to be recognized in this way by the largest Veterans Motorcycle Rally in the country. There will be over 100 Kansas ALR attending this year and I am certain as in the past , this Ride will be a very moving and Patriotic experience for all of us.  Following is the itinerary for departure from the Derby/ Wichita area. Wed. August 16th : meet at Derby QT , 71st So. / K-15 at 0500 ..AIS 0530
     Northern Route : North on K-15 to 135.Fuel at Salina ( Crawford St exit ) to Phillips 66..Breakfast / Fuel at Hays ( Village Inn )...Fuel - Oakley..South on Highway 40 to 94 West to Colorado Springs ( 2 Fuel stops between Oakley & C Springs ) ,
     Southern Route : 54 West - Pratt- Fuel/ Breakfast , Highway 50 to Garden City / Fuel , Lamar Colorado- Fuel/lunch ,  Pueblo, Co. Fuel , I-25 to C Springs.
NOTE:     Pre-Fight Bikes- Tires. Batteries etc. prior to take off

The actual name of the motel is The Rainbow Lodge and Inn Directions are as follows:  From Colorado Springs  stay on highway 24 to the Manitou Springs Garden of the Gods exit. Take this exit and go right on West COLORADO  AVE you will see the motel on the right side of the street.
 
 Some people are arriving on Wed and some on Thursday. The registration room will open up on Thursday night at 6:00 pm and also on Friday night from 6:00pm to 8:00 pm If there are late arrivals for registration you can let MaMa Keena know up there.   Upon registration there will be information of sites to see for those who are interested in going other places while there i.e. Cave of the Winds, Seven Falls, Royal Gorge etc.
 
 At registration they will register for the parade [  I think the cost of the parade is the same as last year ( $7- $10 per couple ) will pick up ride pin, & the bike ribbon at that time.
 
Thursday ( 8/17 ) ...Open...Mountain Rides , chow ,
 
Friday ( 8/18 ):The American Legion Poker Run is at 10:00 am we  will depart from the motel at 9:00 am. This is a beautiful ride we will be stopping at several sites and can take group pictures we will also be stopping for Lunch at Guffys which is about  20 miles from Cripple Creek .  Also Friday evening we will be having a Kansas ALR supper which will be supplied by Al ( Sheriff ) Longstaff , Keena ( MaMa Keena ) Longstaff  and Jeff Bryant around 7:30 or 8:30.
 
 Saturday ( 8/19 ) morning  all will be gassed and ready to depart for the parade at approx 6:30 am for the school, we will be riding as a group early as last year it is about the same amount of miles to get to the school.
        A reminder :  there is a room at the Rainbow they are saving... all of the motel is for us, so if anyone still needs a room they can call and reserve one.  1-800-934-1102
 
 When people register for the parade you will be asked if you want to ride in the parade or help park the bikes ( Bike parking help is needed and very important  )
