WWII Casualty SGT Harold Fechter

WAMEGO, KS

The Patriot Guard have been requested to honor Sergeant Harold Fechter of Wamego, KS at his interment on Friday, 22 Jun 07.

SGT Fechter, served in World War II with the US Army 88th Infantry Division, 350th Infantry Regiment. He was killed in action on 03 Oct 1944 near Mt. Battaglia, Italy when an artillery shell exploded in his foxhole. At the time of SGT Fechter’s death, no remains were recovered. In October 2006 SGT Fechter’s surviving family were notified that remains had been located and identified as those of SGT Fechter.

MISSION:

Provide escort for SGT Fechter and his family from the Stewart Funeral Home, 4730 Salzer Rd, Wamego KS (one mile west of Wamego on US HWY 24) to St. Bernard’s Cemetery (one mile north of Wamego on KS Route 99). Stand for the memory of SGT Fechter at the interment of his remains, and support his family and community.

RC for this mission is Kai Sayson (kai52@sbcglobal.net) . Kai will bring 20 flags on poles.

Mount big flags for the Escort Ride. Bring water and sunscreen.
