Fallen Hero US Army Sgt. Michael J. Knapp
Killed in Action - Operation Enduring Freedom

  Sgt Michael Knapp

       Sgt. Michael J. Knapp, 28, of Overland Park, Kansas, was killed May 18, in Asadabad, Afghanistan.  He was assigned to the 1st Battalion (Air Assault), 377th Field Artillery Regiment, 17th Fires Brigade.  Sgt. Knapp entered military service in October 2003.  He attended Advanced Individual Training in Military Occupational Specialty 13B (Cannon Crew Member) at Fort Sill, OK.  He served one overseas deployment to Kosovo, then two deployments to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.  Sgt. Knapp reported to Joint Base Lewis-McChord in 2010 and deployed with his unit to Afghanistan in October 2011.  He received many military honors, including the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.
Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, May 28, 2012, at Legacy Christian Church, 10150 Antioch Road, Overland Park, KS.  Celebration of Life service will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at the church.
