Mission Day

Please Lord - give me strength, guide me

Use me for what is good

 

They’re here

Leather clad cavalry

Together for a common mission -

Warriors grieving

Respect  for the fallen

Support for his family

 

We wait - Small talk

- our rides, our homes, our families and friends

Some are silent, within themselves

Focusing on mission

 

We pray together

We pray within

To our God

For strength

For this family

For ourselves

 

Soft snap of flags in country breeze

Sometimes covering cavalry tears

Remembering the past hurts

Feeling the present sorrow

 

He gave his life for us

Parents gave their son for us

He’s our son, our brother, our friend

We know him

He died for ideals

Those of his father

Ours

 

We’ve been through war, youth, protest, peace

We’re no one - we’re all men

We’re American

 

The smell of country

The distant sounds of farm

Warm sun on leather

Babies’ innocent cries

Flags, Flags, Flags

 

Taps, Gunshots

Gone

Never forgotten

Good Bye Will Mock
