Patriot Guard Mission Complete for
Fallen Hero US Army Staff Sergeant Eric Nettleton
KIA 05 Jan 2011 - Operation Enduring Freedom
Mission Dates - Jan 14 through 18, 2011

Funeral Location - Wichita, KS

Thank you to everyone who attended missions to honor SSgt Eric Nettleton in Wichita, KS. The ice, snow, and the bitter cold did not stop the mission, and all of you who participated warmed the hearts of Eric's family, friends, and fellow soldiers. On 14 Jan 2011 we escorted Eric from the airport to the funeral home. On 17 Jan we escorted Eric from the funeral home to the church in preparation for an evening rosary service. The next morning, 18 Jan, we attended the funeral service, then escorted Eric to his final resting place.

The Nettleton family and friends extend their appreciation and thanks to everyone who were present, as well as to those who could not participate but offered their prayers.

We thank all Patriot Guard members for your continued commitment to hold the American Flag and stand guard for our Fallen Heroes. Thank you to the Road Guards for leading and keeping us safe going to and from the missions, and the Staging Crew for all they do, including managing the motorcycle lineup, parking, and the flag lines.  We extend a special thank-you to Linda "LT" Thacker for embroidering the Army service flag with Eric's name, unit, and Purple Heart and CIB. We also thank Dakota, who inspired all of us as she sang "The Star Spangled Banner" at the staging site, and Charles Liles, our bagpiper.  Everyone did an outstanding job.

Strength and Honor.
