The state of Kansas and the city of Mulvane have invited the Patriot Guard to attend the dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony designating K-53 highway as the "Patriot Guard Highway". Betty Powers and family of the late Kansas Representative Ted Powers will be present. This bill to dedicate highway K-53 as "Patriot Guard Highway" was one of the last pieces of legislation Mr. Ted Powers introduced to the House before his death. Master of Ceremonies will be Mulvane Mayor Jim Ford. The Kansas Transportation Secretary Deb Miller, Kansas Senator Donald Betts, Mulvane City Council, Mulvane Police Officers, and the Kansas Highway Patrol Officers will also be present. The officials will dedicate the highway in honor of the national movement of the "Patriot Guard" which was started in Mulvane, Kansas in early August 2005 by the American Legion Riders of Post 136.
Mulvane Police will provide escort.

Motorcycle Line-up Squad Leader: Jerry "Jarhead" Allen and crew.
Riders will be directed to line up motorcycles in column of two's facing K-15 (West).
Lead motorcycle flag column will consist of 4 American flags, plus 2 Kansas,
2 Army, 2 Marine, 2 Navy, 2 Air Force, 2 Coast Guard, 2 POW/MIA, ALR, and Chaplin.
Remaining columns of motorcycles will fly American flags.

1415 hr (2:15 PM) Depart American Legion Post 136 to Mulvane City Building, 211 North 2nd Ave.
Route directions: South on K-15, right turn to K-53 (Main St), left turn (West) K-53/Main Street to
North 2nd Ave turn right (north) to parking lot just south of City Hall & Mulvane Police Dept.
Park in columns of two's facing East.
After ceremony, ride the 4 miles west to where K-53 ends at Hwy 81.
