Patriot Guard Special Mission for

Emily "Emmy Sue" Rocha

Thank you to all who were able to participate on such short notice, to those who were unable to participate, please keep Emmy Sue and her family in your prayers and thoughts.

Today, 20 September 2006, sixteen ALR riders attended the services of Emily "Emmy Sue" Rocha and provided color guard escort for hearse as it carried her to the cemetery.  Her parents, Gene and Bonnie Parks requested the escort for their daughter's funeral.   Emmy Sue was 14 years old and died 17 September 2006 of complications from leukemia.  She had only been diagnosed a few weeks earlier.  She was a freshman at Mulvane High School, and was manager of the football team.  At Mulvane middle school she was an honor student, president of the student council and a member of the choir.  Emmy Sue's stepfather is a jet engine mechanic for the Kansas Air National Guard.  Her mother is a Mulvane school bus driver.  The football team were casket bearers.  Her honorary casket bearer was her special friend, Morgan, who said, "I gave her a dozen roses one was fake and said, I will love you until the last rose dies."  ALR riders who attended the service witnessed the many testimonials given by many people who knew and loved Emmy Sue.  They all honored her character and the life she lived.  She was a role model to her friends and was well-loved by all in the community.  It was an honor to provide a color guard and escort the hearse to the Mulvane cemetery.  God bless Emmy Sue, her family, and everyone who knew her.  Our prayers are with them.

Respectfully,
Terry "Darkhorse" Houck
